CONFERENCE UPDATE 4 JUNE 2010

It’s cold and wet in Sydney at the moment, but we hope that by the time the conference begins on 18 June, our weather will have returned to ‘Sunny Sydney’.

This is to let you know that, with 400 delegates, the conference is totally sold out, with a waiting list. There is also a waiting list for the dinner which will be celebrating the 65th birthday of the Children’s Book Council, founded in Sydney in 1945. Maurice Saxby, the first National President will be our guest of honour at the dinner.

From the beginning we have made it quite clear that this conference is not meant to replace the national conference which was scheduled for this year. This is a ‘no frills’ conference, with no conference satchels, no glamorous ‘Expo’, no razzamatazz – just fabulous speakers and people passionate about children’s books – getting back to the basics, like previous NSW branch conferences. However, we have been overwhelmed with the response and look forward to a wonderful two days.

The committee has done a great job and it’s all coming together beautifully. Our thanks to all who have supported the conference.  We look forward to seeing many of you in two weeks time.
